What we may not remember is that there are many celebrities who have criminal charges which we have forgotten about.
Here are our top five:
- Robert Downey Jnr
He won the Golden Globe and was nominated for the Academy Awards. You’ve seen him in Iron Man, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Natural Born Killers, just to mention a few. Unfortunately he’s also well known by the police. The first arrest came in 1996 when he was arrested for driving drunk and possession of cocaine, heroin, crack and a Magnum revolver. He was sentenced to three years’ probation, but the year after he violated parole and was sentenced six months in prison. In 2000 he was arrested again for possession of cocaine, and in 2001 he was arrested again for being under influence of drugs. This time he wasn’t charged though.
- Mark Wahlberg
In Wahlberg’s mid-teens he was charged with attempted murder when he assaulted two Vietnamese men. One he knocked unconscious with a wooden stick and, on the same day, he punched another in the face.
- Christian Slater
Christian Slater holds multiple convictions. In 1989 he was arrested for drunk driving and assault. In 1994 he tried to board a commercial airline with a loaded gun in his luggage. In 1994 the actor was arrested for assaulting then-girlfriend Michelle Jonas, and a police officer and in 2005 he was arrested for assault.
- Bill Gates
In 1975, Gates was arrested for speeding and driving without a license in New Mexico.
- Martha Stewart
Martha was sentenced to five months in jail, and a two year house arrest for taking insider advice from a stock broker to withdraw her shares in ImClone Systems, and the day after the stock dropped by 16 per cent, where she avoided losing over $45 000.
