Voltrex gives St Dunstan’s a preview

It was a lunch break out of the ordinary for St Dunstan’s pupils, who spent it dancing away their shivers on a chilly Thursday (April 7) morning.

The duo, Voltrex, performed a live show as a preview of what to expect from them on May 7, at The Festival @ St Dunstan’s College.

“The weather was chilly,” said one of the members, Nkosi Sibanda, “but we enjoyed playing for the children.”

Their performance saw the attendance of the majority of pupils and teachers, who cheered them on.

“Nobody ignored us,” said the other member, Aaron Ngwenya.

“It is always nice to play for people who enjoy your music.”

Although the two gave pupils a preview, they said their performance at The Festival will be a surprise.

“We are also dropping our new single on May 7, which we will play live,” said Ngwenya.

Voltrex said they enjoy playing music that intrigues the crowd, but they also hold onto the sound that makes them unique.

And they would like to share their uniqueness with Black Coffee and Justin Bieber if they have the chance to collaborate with other artists one day.

“We are excited about giving our best in terms of music,” Sibanda said.

“Other DJs have their own sounds and so do we; this is what makes everyone unique.”

The two have invested in their passion for music since the tender age of 15, when they played at ice rinks every weekend.

Since, they have had numerous opportunities to share their talent with the country.

One such a memorable moment was their opening act for Cassper Nyovest’s Fill Up The Dome concert, in 2015, where they performed in front of 20 000 people.
