Apple’s on the list

Juan Appelgrein, popularly known as Johnny Apple, is the next artist in the DJ line-up for the Festival @ St Dunstan’s College on May 7.

It will be a performance young women should not miss.

Apple is living the life which would have been pleasing to his late father, who wanted him to become a professional football player or an artist.

He pursued his love for music at the tender age of 11, when he started taking singing lessons after school.

Although he did not receive positive feedback from his friends about his singing career, he took the feedback as a challenge.

“I took all of that negativity and used it as a way to get better and make me stronger,” he said.

In 2013 Apple decided to audition for the fourth season of SA’s Got Talent, which became the rising point of his career.

His performance saw the rise of a crowd following comprising of 25 000 people.

In October of the same year, he won SA’s Got Talent and walked away with R250 000 and a recording contract with Sony Music.

Tickets are on sale at St Dunstan’s College, the Benoni City Times office, Wakaberry Oakfields (Northmead) and Harvey World Travel Benoni (Rynfield), during work hours on weekdays.
