East Rand Motor Show around the corner

Are you a car fanatic?

The East Rand Motor Show will be coming to Benoni on August 1.

The show will be held at 49 Aerodrome Drive (on the Hoërskool Brandwag’s sports grounds), Northmead.

The aim of the show is to help to raise funds for the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (Choc) and The Animal Guardians (Tag).

Event coordinator Cindy Joshua said the idea of having a car show started out since the group of car enthusiasts decided they really wanted to offer all around entertainment for the whole family.

“We realised that fast cars really have a way of bringing people of all races and religions together,” said Joshua.

On the day, numerous activities will take place: a Dyno and Sound off and a Show and Shine competition, kids entertainment, flea-markets and automotive exhibitors.

People will enter their cars in the Show and Shine contest to win prizes.

Other prizes will be won through a raffle for the benefit of the charities.

Various clubs and crews will be on display on the day, including, the VW Club of South Africa, Max My Ride Magazine, International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) and the Benoni Heritage Vehicle and Engine Club.

For the classic car show entrance will be any pet products, such as dog or cat food and pet shampoo.

This is to benefit Tag.

For the Show and Shine show, entrance will be R100 per person.

Children under the age of 12 get in free.

Any local singers, dancers and DJs who would like to participate, as well as people who want stalls, should contact Joshua on 061 485 6058.
