Search for pilot continues

The search for missing pilot Clifton Pike is still continuing.

Spokesperson for the Eastern Cape SAPS Capt John Fobian said the search for Pike will continue until dark today.

He said the area from Port Alfred to Port Elizabeth is being searched; including Alexandria, Colchester, Kirkwood, the Addo Elephant Park National Park and the tip of Grahamstown.

Fobian said 4X4 vehicles, police and private aircraft, people on foot, motorcycles, the K9 unit and Pike’s family are part of the search party.

The search for the pilot will resume tomorrow if he is not found today.

The Morehill resident went missing on Wednesday (January 29) on a flight from Port Alfred en route to Mossel Bay.

Pike’s stepson, Brogan Shrimpton, send a message out on social media this afternoon.

“Thank you so much for the prayers, wishes and support,” said Shrimpton.

“Really appreciate it.

“He (Pike) hasn’t been found yet but we doing all we can still.”

Shrimpton said last night he and his step-brother were due to continue the search this morning at 5am.

Pike was due to compete at the Western Cape Regional Aerobatics Championship, to be held in Mossel Bay, at weekend, according to event organiser Hans Potgieter.
