And the minister did not mince his words.
Mbalula said what he witnessed was not a problem of coaching but a bunch of losers who lack respect for everything under the sun.
“Their performance was not even lacklustre, it was useless.
“We must go to the drawing board.
“That mediocrity that was displayed yesterday… we must never wake up to that again.”
The minister’s scathing remarks were followed by a mixed reaction from South Africans with some saying they don’t think a public figure like Mbalula should have uttered such unbecoming words to the players while some shared the minister’s sentiments that Bafana is a useless bunch.
They congratulated the minister for having the guts to say it loud and clear.
Mbalula has also refused to apologise for branding the national football team “a bunch of losers.”
It boggles the mind that not so long ago, the same bunch of losers (Bafana Bafana) were hailed as heroes after managing a one goal win against the world champions, Spain.
This clearly shows that loyalty is not the South Africans’ favourite word.
Bafana Bafana will be labelled anything depending which way the wind is blowing.
Today’s heroes are tomorrow a bunch of losers and vice versa.
