Benoni’s sportsmen and women will again showcase the competitive spirit that has become associated with sportspeople from our neck of the woods.
Sport in Benoni is re-emerging from its slumber and there are a number of quality sporting events to look forward to.
Starting tomorrow (Saturday, January 11) Benoni Northerns Cricket Club will host their annual six-a-side tournament which is always a highly entertaining affair which is always accompanied by some gigantic sixes and ice cold beverages.
On a more serious note the Northerns Premier XI gets the Eastern Premier League going again after a festive season break at home to KwaThema while Actonville Spurs will reopen against a strong CBC Old Boys side at home.
The Johnson Crane Marathon is also fast approaching for those who like to get their running shoes on and eat up the kilometres on Benoni’s roads.
Some Benoni athletes will also be looking forward to a successful year like South African Men’s Hockey player Jethro Eustice who will be heading to the 2014 Hockey World Cup in The Hague in May and June.
As always the Benoni City Times and looklocal Benoni will be on hand to bring you all the marvelous achievements of our local superstars and we look forward to a wonderful year of Benoni sport.
Cheers to a sporty 2014. LG
