The City Times asked people on its Facebook page what their thoughts were on people who have or have not bought e-tags.
Here are some of the responses:
“There’s no social responsibility coming from it,” said Henry Prinsloo.
“T’is the season of giving.
“As a Benoni resident myself I politely refuse to get one.
“Will try for an indigent grant.
“I didn’t ask for new freeways – it was never a top priority.
“When does the prosecution start?
“Do they do home visits?”
Joe Standuhar said: “Good. I won’t be getting tagged either.
“I’ve paid my dues for Nkandla already.”
Louise Harris commented: “Pat on the back for me.
“I did not get one and will not get one!”
Paul van der Spuy said: “Fuel prices are going up just before the festive season – add e-tags – where will it end up?
“We are on our way to become just like Zimbabwe where a select few will live in luxury and the other 95 per cent in poverty.”
Heila de Swardt said: “People must buy their e-tags and pay their tolls!”
Crosby Mane commented: “Free country.
“Exercise your right.
“It is not against the law not to have an e-tag.”
Anne van Wyk said she will use alternative routes.
