Investigation into rude SAPS official

"Anonymous" writes by email:

I as a resident of Petit.

I called the Crystal Park Police Station on October 12, at about 10.30pm, as I do every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, to complain about the excessive, loud noise from the shebeen in Petit (Kit Kat).

A lady answered, telling me that there was no problem with the noise and that if I had a problem I should call back after midnight.

I am sure that the cut-off time in a residential area is 10pm.

When I asked for her name she slammed down the phone in my ear.

I then called back and asked the name of the lady who had just answered the phone.

Const Motleka said he didn’t know who had answered the phone.

Yet I could hear her in the background.

I then asked for all the women working that night and was told no woman was on duty.

It’s an utter disgrace to what level our police force has dropped.

They are more concerned about taking care of the needs of the shebeens than of us, the residents.

Shame on our police force!

Regards, a disgusted resident.

Editor’s note: Crystal Park SAPS media liaison officer Tryna Maritz responded: “It will be appreciated if the complainant can give us more details.

“We have already established which relief was working, but there is no Const Motleka working at Crystal Park SAPS.

“The station commander, Lieut Col Belinda Motaung, spoke to the complainant, and explained to her that the police and Liquor Board are busy with an investigation – there is a small delay with the matter, but the investigation is on-going. ”

“The Metro Police are also busy with an investigation, together with the CPF of Crystal Park.

“The complainant is satisfied with the feedback.”

The shebeen will be monitored closely by the police.
