Fit or fat?

Sports Journalist Logan Green Writes:

I must say that the temptation brought on by the countless takeaway joints in our town is sometimes almost too incredible for me to resist.

KFC, Nandos, Steers – there is just too much sizzling goodness for one young man to say no.

Having an office based at the Northmead Square is also a major distraction for any fast food loving individual like me.

Also, the fact that another McDonald’s joint has opened in Benoni has done nothing more but compound my attraction to the junkest of foods.

But, alas, I have decided to challenge my vices in a battle of commitment, dedication and 5km afternoon runs.

That’s right people your favourite local sports journo is drawing inspiration from all the health conscious and superb sportsmen (and women) that he writes about in Benoni and is aiming to shed a few pounds before the Christmas break.

I have managed to stop smoking cigarettes for just over a year so perhaps I can follow suit by getting over my love for takeaways

The question now though is: How?

  • Step one: Encouraging a friend to lace up his takkies and join me on an afternoon run. The more the merrier. It is always easier to do something with a friend, preferably a friend who is fitter than you and will spur you on throughout.
  • Step two: Participating in a sport that I love. Football. Football. Football. I have decided to get my boots back on and return to the indoor soccer arena of Old Bens. Besides Benoni needs to a see a player with Wayne Rooneyesque qualities.
  • Step three: Commitment and drive. Rome wasn’t built in a day. I need to keep my eye on the prize and never give up. If I can do that my task will quite literally be a walk in the park.

Call me the man with the plan.

It’s time to get fit or fat!
