Elated Benoni Spurs FC players took to the field in their new kit, which was donated by vehicle tracking and recovery company, Cartrack, for the first time on May 21 at Willowmoore Park.
A departure from their traditional black and yellow colours, the new kit has shades of orange, blue with white sleeves and is complemented by blue shorts with orange trimmings.
The donation will benefit all the club’s 13 teams from U6 to U17, which all play in the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) leagues.
“We as a family cannot express enough gratitude to our new partners for opening their hearts in providing our now well kitted 250 members with the well-designed and awesome gear,” said the club’s general-manager Zain Shah.
“We would like to thank Cartrack and Infiniti Auto for joining us in creating a safe environment for our children to develop their footballing skills and for always being there in every step of our building process.”
Cartrack and Spurs’ collaboration began in March when the company donated a grass cutter to the club following months of playing and practicing on an uneven surface.
During the official handover of the kit, which was attended by the club’s fans and board and Cartrack personnel, Cartrack South Africa CEO, Joshua Victor, stated the company understands that education, skills development and community upliftment are vital for creating opportunities.
Victor added that they are proud to invest in activities that empower disadvantaged communities with sustainable support.
“Cartrack is committed to making a difference in the communities that we serve and have invested in a number of skills programmes aimed at uplifting individuals and young people in particular.
“We believe in empowering our communities, especially those who face significant challenges. Through our learnership programme and initiatives such as our support for the Benoni Spurs, we aim to provide individuals in our communities with the necessary skills to build successful futures,” Victor said.
The club’s U10 and U12 teams looked dapper in their new attire when they took on Bedfordiew outfit Corinthians and Benoni Northerns, respectively, in the ELFA.
Benoni Spurs board member Ebrahim Rawat expressed his gratitude to the company for their support, describing the collaboration as special.
Victor said he hopes that by demonstrating Cartrack’s unwavering support, the team will be inspired to train relentlessly and achieve their goals.
