The South African Kickboxing Association (SAKA) team for the eighth Turkish Open WAKO World Cup in Türkiye landed safely in the transcontinental nation on May 16.
The team, led by President Aslam Mahomed from Benoni, arrived at Istanbul International Airport wearing their green and gold tracksuits and prepared to raise the country’s flag.
According to Mahomed, the world cup qualifiers are ranking tournaments which will enable participants to gain points and be ranked at the world cup and continental tournaments.
The team includes Salaamah Mahomed, Ahmad Mahomed, Chayse Norris, Joshua Norris, Chaunique Bruce, JD du Plessis (referee), Shabnum Mia (coach), Muhammad Mia and Sajida Mahomed.
The tournament begins on May 18 and will conclude on May 21.
