Motocross youngster chasing national and regional titles

He's the current leader in Northern Region Motocross Championship and sits in second place in the Motorsport South Africa National Motocross Championship.

Local motocross sensation Parker Cik has established himself as one of the rising stars in dirt track racing in South Africa.

The Rynfield resident is sitting in second place overall in the 50cc class in the Motorsport South Africa (MSA) national motocross championship.

After three rounds of the competition, Cik has shown his credentials by fighting his way into podium positions in tough situations.

Parker Cik is the current leader in the Northern Region Motocross Championship standings.

In the first round at Phakisa Motocross Track in Welkom, he had a tough ride in heat one, finishing seventh after some technical issues on the muddy and slippery track.

Heat two gave the biker a chance to redeem himself and he did that superbly to finish in second place and claim an overall second-place finish for the round.

Cape Town’s Zone 7 Motocross Track offered the eight-year-old another opportunity to continue his quest for the national title when it hosted rounds two and three on April 1 and 2.

He finished in third place behind Riley Geldenhuys and Aden Fisher in round two.

Geldenhuys also won the third round of the competition but this time Parker squared off with the East London native, winning the qualifying round and finishing third and second in heats one and two, respectively, to finish the round in second place overall.

The two leaders will go toe to toe again at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Pietermaritzburg on May 6.

Regional dominance

Cik is also the leader in the Northern Region Motocross Championship, where after two rounds he holds the red plate for being the championship leader.

The first round was at Phakisa in Welkom and after a slow start (third in qualifying and fourth in heat one), he clawed his way back into the contest and won heat two to place second place overall for the round.

His moment of dominance came at the Holeshot Harry’s circuit in the picturesque town of Harrismith where he, despite a second-place finish in the qualifying, won both heats one and two to ascend to the top of the standings.

He will look to continue the momentum in the third round on May 13 at Legends Adventure Farm and Motocross Track in Pretoria.
