Benoni Northerns Cricket Club moved a step closer in their pursuit of the Eastern Premier T20 title with two crucial wins against Kwa-Thema and Geluksdal on October 23.
The Northmead side beat Kwa-Thema by 117 runs in the first game to take a step further in their fight for the T20 title.
Matthew Smit (60) and Vaughn Humphrey (48) had a great day with the bat. Their innings ensured their visitors were set a target hard to chase.
Matthew Wittstock (3/7), Brett Martindale (2/5), Vaughn Humphrey (2/6) and Tyreece Kruger (2/10) had a field day with the ball, helping Northerns to a comfortable 117-run win.
In the second game, it was a walk in the park as they defeated Geluksdal by 10 wickets.
Bowling first, the home side bowlers came out guns blazing, restricting the visitors to 66 all out.
Stefano di Bartomelo grabbed four wickets while Matthew Wittstock and Sifiso Shabangu got two scalps each.
Openers Vaughn Humphrey (45*) and Rian van der Merwe (21*) drove Northerns’ innings with ease to win by 10 wickets.
