Brakpan Rugby Club beat the Boksburg Rugby Club’s Trackless Red 19-5 to clinch the Benoni Northerns Rugby Club Clash 10s competition on September 24 at Benoni Northerns sports fields.
Brakpan began their campaign positively after beating hosts, Benoni Northerns 19-7 in their opening game. However, they lost some ground in the second game after losing 21-19 to Boksburg.
They redeemed themselves in the third game as they scored 50 points without conceding against Thembisa Stallions.
In the final, they avenged their round-robin loss with a clinical 19-7 win against Boksburg to walk away with the title.
Boksburg’s White Owls were the champions of the social competition.
The competition, held to celebrate Benoni Northerns Sports Club’s 50th anniversary, attracted several clubs from the region.
