CGA athletes impress at nationals

“We are very proud of all the medal winners."

Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) put on an impressive display at the national cross-country championships at Bersig Academy sports fields in Rustenburg on September 17.

Kabelo Melamu scooped a gold medal after clocking 10:07 in the senior men’s 4km event. His teammate Nkosinathi Sibiya added a bronze medal for the province in the same category.

The senior men’s and women’s 10km event saw the country’s elite runners go head to head. CGA’s Cacisile Sosibo put on a strong performance to win a silver medal in a time of 33:50 in the women’s event. Kabelo Seboko added to the province’s tally with a bronze medal in the men’s event. He finished his race at 29:49.

CGA President Steven Khanyile was thrilled with the performances put on by all CGA athletes on the day.

“We are very proud of all the medal winners. It was an exciting day full of positivity demonstrated by all CGA members and supporters. A special thank you to the athletes, commission, team management and all supporters for flying the CGA flag high.”
