Ebotse parkrun set for another milestone

The Ebotse parkrun will celebrate its 500th event on October 21 at CR Swart Park.

The parkrun, which was first hosted in 2012, celebrated its 10th anniversary last year with an event attended by several personalities, including parkrun South Africa’s operations manager Cara Fordyce.

It is one of the oldest parkrun events in South Africa. It attracts around 250 runners each week.

Veterans Cricket League starts this week

The first ball of the new East Rand Veterans Cricket Association (ERVCA) League season will be bowled when the first round of fixtures start this weekend.

A total of eight teams will contest for the league honours, including the Benoni Scimitars squad that will be led by Andre Steyn.

The ERVCA invites any players over 40 and 50 years who still have an appetite for the game to get in touch on admin@ervca.com, if they want to join.

Northerns looking for women cricketers

The Benoni Northerns Women’s Cricket Club calls all ladies, juniors and seniors, across Ekurhuleni to join the across as the look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season which is set to start in October.

Eastern welcomes new sponsor

The Eastern Cricket Union announced a partnership with Kempton Park-based shipment company, DN Freight, which will sponsor the Eastern Storm.

“DN Freight is an industry leader in the freight and logistics industry. We know this sponsorship will play a valuable role in assisting usher in a new era for the union and awaken the sleeping giant in the East,” said CEO Wesley Coulentianos.
