Liam Mundree and Tayden Perumal from Tom Newby School have been selected to represent Eastern Schools at the 49th Bill Stewart Primary Schools Football Invitational Tournament at Camp Discovery at Dinokeng Game Reserve.
The Grade Seven learners will earn their provincial caps at the tournament scheduled from June 30 until July 4.
Easterns Schools chairperson Mongezi Radebe has described 13-year-old Tayden as a towering centre-back that reads the game well.
“He’s tall, controls the ball well and his awareness is second to none. He is calm and marshals his defenders well.”
Radebe stated Liam was selected because of his pace, skills and qualities that have helped his team score many goals.
“Liam is a right-winger. He is the fastest player at Tom Newby, and it is his speed that makes him a threat,” Radebe said.
