BSA bring home gold

Badminton South Africa (BSA) alongside Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association (EGBA) also hosted the South African International Future Series

The South African Badminton (BSA) team took part in the All Africa Senior Championship 2021 in Uganda recently, with SA ending in third place overall.

Their coach, Stewart Carson, who trains them from John Barrable Hall in Benoni, accompanied them and was pleased with the overall results.

The individual event results were as follows:

• Johanita Scholtz (FS) won the ladies singles.

• Amy Ackerman (EGBA) with Johanita Scholtz (FS) won the ladies doubles.

• Jarred Elliott (EGBA) with Robert Summers (FS) won bronze for men’s doubles.

• Amy Ackerman (EGBA) with Jarred Elliot (EGBA) and Deidre Laurens (EGBA) with Robert White (EGBA) won bronze for the mixed doubles.

BSA, alongside Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association (EGBA), also hosted the South African International Future Series from December 2 to 5 followed by the Junior South African International from December 6 to 8 at John Barrable Hall.

The SA International finals and junior finals were played on December 6 and 8.

BSA also presented the above teams and other qualifying players their South African Protea blazers for their outstanding achievements representing South Africa in Badminton on December 5.
