Prize-giving for Benoni wrestlers proves exciting

The Benoni Wrestling Club, based in Northmead, recently held their prize giving and honoured their wrestlers for their outstanding achievements throughout the year.
The trophies were handed out as follows:
• Ben Oosthuizen received trophies for most matches won and most scientific wrestler in the 30-33kg age group.
• LeRoux van Niekerk was awarded for most matches won, most scientific wrestler and best youth wrestler in the 34-37kg age group.
• Stiaan Potgieter received a trophy for the best behaviour
• Wian Gasson received a trophy for being the best beginner
• Peter du Preez received a trophy for the best attitude
• Geo van Niekerk received trophies for the men’s open champion and Sportsman of the Year.
• Johnny van Niekerk received a trophy for best LTPD wrestler of the year
“The club was blessed to have a full season, regardless of Covid restrictions. We look forward to our new venue at Benoryn FamilieKerk in Rynfield next year. Congrats to all our wrestlers on a fantastic season,” said Marlize Gasson, Benoni Wrestling Club marketing assistant.
