Golden joy for badminton players at African championships

Team South Africa brought home the gold for overall effort.

The u-19 All Africa Badminton Championship was held in Cotonou, Benin, recently.

The South African team won the team event. In the individual section, Amy Ackerman (right), who represents the Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association (EGBA), won gold for ladies doubles and mixed doubles, as well as silver for ladies singles.

Robert White also represents EGBA and won gold for men’s doubles and mixed doubles, as well as silver for men’s singles.
