Lakefield Sporting Club launches tournament

The event, sponsored by ACS Auto, featured 21 of the top 6-a-side teams from around Ekurhuleni and beyond.

The inaugural ACS Auto 6-a-side Community Cup, hosted by the Lakefield Sporting Club, was held on September 5 at its Astroplex Facility, located at the Benoni Lake Club.

The event, sponsored by ACS Auto, featured 21 of the top 6-a-side teams from around Ekurhuleni and beyond, who competed for a prize of R5 000 for first place and R1 000 for the runners-up.

TIDH FC emerged as the tournament winners after defeating Syster FC 3-1 in a nail-biting final, which eventually came down to a penalty shoot-out after the scores were level at 0-0 after full time.

 

The Player of the Tournament award went to Abdullah Moosa of TIDH FC and the Goalkeeper of the Tournament was awarded to ‘Zwai’ of Syster FC.

Abdul Rehman Sibda, the chairperson of LSC Astroplex, was impressed with the high quality of football and also by the spectators who provided a great atmosphere.

He also thanked the tournament organising committee and the event sponsor, ACS Auto, for its part in ensuring that the event was a roaring success.
