The Daveyton Tennis Club recently took part in a tennis tournament that Dundee Tefo Radebe put together to encourage players to take part in the sport.

Radebe is a qualified, accredited independent tennis coach and founder of the Daveyton Tennis Club.

“I requested to host my tournaments at Northmead Tennis Club, for our facility is not at the right standard for competitive tennis,” he said.

“I hosted the tournament to encourage players through prize money, as some are struggling to enter sanctioned tournaments for rankings (points).

“Our club is formed by young and old participants who don’t attend at the same day or time. It’s designed to promote the sport.”

The results were as follows:

• Overall winner: Alfred Thantsa took home the DTR floating trophy, a gold medal and a certificate for participation.

• Runner up: Loyiso Marsha took home a silver medal and certificate for participation.

• Third place to eighth place finishers received a bronze medal and certificate for participation.
