It’s a tournament that starts at the grassroots and allows everybody the opportunity to show Netball South Africa and the country their talents.

“Twizza has always been a great sponsor for netball.

“It is exciting to be a part of this new Twizza-sponsored tournament and to see just how far the youngsters have come,” said van Wyk.

“During the off season, I have been doing some training in terms of fitness and running, and I played in a netball tournament in March in Cape Town, which improved my fitness levels a lot, and Tuks netball has great pre-season training programmes that I have been following,” said van Wyk.

During the last tournament, van Wyk was one of the many recipients of the Twizza Moments Awards and is looking to once again take home these coveted awards.

“I play goal defence, which in itself is a challenging position as you are very often the last line of defence against a goal.

“However, I have been working on my skills and taking some tips from my favourite player, Karla Pretorius. I can’t wait to try out what I have learnt.”

The netball challenge is a great opportunity for players starting at club level to be recognised and eventually play interprovincial games.

“We’re very excited to put our name behind this tournament,” said Twizza group marketing manager Lance Coertzen.

“It’ll see clubs from 52 districts participating, and the top two teams from each district will go on to show their mettle at an inter-provincial level in July and August.

“The top provincial teams will meet each other in the finals in September. The club level games will allow competitors to contend for selection for the SPAR National Championships, the Telkom Netball League and the SPAR Proteas,” added Coertzen.

For Netball South Africa, this is a chance to identify talent and provide consistent competition for all players across the country.
