First home game for Northerns Rugby

The kit handout and team selection happened after their first game due to NWU opposition not being able to play their designated match.

The Benoni Northerns Rugby first team recently played their first match against North Western University (NWU) at Benoni Northerns Sports Club.

Their first game was only supposed to be held after the kit handout, which took place on the evening of May 26, but due to NWU’s opposing team not being able to play against them on that weekend, Northerns stepped up to the plate.

 

NWU won 28-18.

Morne Labuschagne and Johan Kruger scored the two Northerns tries. Eugene Horn succeeded with a conversion kick and two penalties.

Their next game will take place in Springs and their next home game will take place on June 26.
