BPL is officially over and players awarded

Next BPL will take place in October, with registration opening in August.

The BPL leagues that take place at the Benoni Action Sport Centre annually has officially concluded.

According to Christine Straussner, the arena manager, it was an extremely exciting and well put together tournament.

Ladies cricket final fixtures:

• Third place: Chilled Cougars

• Second place: Ice Impalas

• First place: Twist Toucans.

Men’s cricket final fixtures:

• Third place: Vodka Vipers

• Second place: Brandy Bears

• First place: Lager Lions.

Mixed netball final fixtures:

• Third place: Whitley Wasps

• Second place: Sombrero Storms

• First place: Crabbie Beaches.

“Well done to the players and team managers for an extremely competitive BPL,” she said.

“A big thank you to Hercules from Buffelsfontein Brandewyn and Belgravia Gin on the sponsor.

We hope to continue the BPL And Buffels relationship next year.

“Thank you to our BPL player ambassadors who assisted us with player registration, rules for the tournament and overseeing that the games run smoothly in their divisions.

Another thank you was given to the umpires George Casson, Shane Crawshaw, Chad Botha, Mandy Brink, Haly Faber, Robyn Bull, as well as all managers involved.

Men’s cricket: Adam Forbes (Brandy Bears), Bryan Cumming (Brandy Bears), Donovan van Vuuren (Rum Ravens), Egbert Lubbe (Brandy Bears), George Viviers (Whiskey Wolves), Jan Grobbelaar (Vodka Vipers), Lee Coetzee (Cider Chimps), Stef Di Bartolomeo (Brandy Bears), Tylor Pienaar (Whiskey Wolves) and William Harrison (Lager Lions).

Mixed netball prizes:

• Best Netball Attack player of the BPL: Cailin Botha

• Best Netball Defence player of the BPL: Neena Blignaut

• Netball MVP of the Tournament: Steven Gaitskill.

Men’s prizes:

• Men’s Batter of the BPL: Tylor Pienaar (Whiskey Wolves)

• Men’s Bowler of the BPL: Lee Coetzee (Cider Chimps)

• Men’s MVP of the Tournament: Tylor Pienaar (Whiskey Wolves).
