Buffelsfontein BPL Premier league is back for another year!

Another highlight was when the Cider Chimps batted first, putting 62 on the board.

The Buffelsfontein BPL Premier League has started up again at the Benoni Action Sport Centre, in Elston Avenue, Benoni CBD.

With the first games on October 23, the men’s division kicked off with the Whiskey Wolves scoring 79 versus the Brandy Bears taking the win with 99 runs on the board.

Two games came down to the last ball of the over with the Lager Lions gaining 30 runs versus the Vodka Vipers who scored 26 runs and the Cider Chimps with 62 runs versus the Rum Ravens taking the win with 63 runs.

In the women’s cricket division, the Energiser Ellies scored 96 runs taking the win against the Twist Toucans who scored 77 runs, the Ice Impalas with 156 Runs versus the Chilled Cougars scoring 45 Runs and the Twist Touchans scored seven runs against the Ice Impalas who took the win with a whopping 130 runs.

In the mixed netball division the Whitley Wasps scored 28 goals versus the Crabbie Beaches who scored 53 goals and the Caribbean Twisters scored 50 goals taking the win against the Sobrero Storms who scored 30 goals.

According to arena manager, Christine Straussner, the highlight of this week’s league was the Vodka Vipers batting first, putting on a low total of 26 runs.

“They managed to defend their score up until the final over where Tyrone Cameron and Clayton Ceronio managed to score five runs for the win,” she explained.

Another highlight was when the Cider Chimps batted first, putting 62 on the board.

“Another game that stood out was when Donovan van Vuren and Jose van der Berg came in to bat last for the Rum Ravens.

“The bowling was extremely tight only allowing them to score 13 runs in four overs, but it was more than enough with Donovan hitting two runs off the last ball for the Rum Ravens to take the win with just one run,” concluded Christine.

The next lot of games will be held at the Sport Centre on October 30 at 6pm and will continue every Friday leading up to the finals on December 11.
