Grid Number five: results are in

Grid Number 5 had some interesting results flowing through and new names are being heard as the logs start to change.

Grid Number 5 of the Grid Pro Longest Driving Event took place at the usual spot, Grasslands Benoni, this past Saturday.

It was a cold start to the day, but soon warmed up once the four-set qualifying rounds had ended.

“Great matches were played throughout the day, with all the players fighting for the win with some interesting surprises followed into the double elimination round,” explained Stephen van Zyl, owner of Grid Pro Longest Drive.

The rounds all started with Gregg Liebenburg, one of the competitors, who went on a full-out attack eliminating some of South Africa’s top long drivers, claiming the win and cash prize.

The order of merit leader Thorne Van Zyl still leads the log with a 200-stretch, with Gregg Liebenburg in second place for his double point’s victory at Grid Number 4.

Thorne van Zyl won the longest drive in the Pro Division and Hernu van Vuuren won the longest drive and overall the longest drive in the Amateur Division.
