Good news for Benoni is that on August 17 it was gazetted sport may resume immediately.
As a result, the Action Sports Group officially confirmed the resumption of action cricket, commencing nationwide from August 19. Action Sports GM Ray Lourens says that absolutely all protocols are in place and ready to be adhered to.
“Our teams have worked tirelessly over the last four to five months to ensure that all health and safety measures are in place at our 24 arenas. Such measures include limited participating teams, sanitiser stations, arrival temperature check’s and disclosure forms,” said Lourens.
“Rest assured that we are well aware of the severity of Covid-19 and as such do not take our return lightly. In terms of on the field play, players will not make contact with one another or share equipment, all of which will be overseen by the assigned umpires. Initially the arenas have opened for both cricket coaching as well as social games,” said Lourens.
“Following a week or two of assessment on the standard of social play by our umpires, each arena may then formulate a competitive league, under the same strict Covid-19 health regulations of course.”
