Achieving his “goal”

While there, some coaches saw Camden at an individual training session and invited him to train with the u-8 group at the Manchester City Academy.

Camden Schaper (8) who trains at the SuperSport United Soccer School in Benoni, as well as with the SuperSport United FC Academy, received a fantastic opportunity to do some training in England during the December school holidays.

He did fantastically well and the coaches were really impressed with him.

Camden also achieved player of the day while training at Manchester City.

He then played an u-9 game at a local football club in Manchester and the team he played for won the game 3-1 with Camden scoring two out of the three goals.

With him being eight and the team he played for being u-9 the local coaches were really impressed.

Coaches from the Manchester United Academy then invited him to train with their u-8 group, again, Camden did so well and has been invited back to train at Manchester United for six weeks this year.

“This is an outstanding achievement and something that has been made possible by not only the talent that Camden obviously has, but also by his incredible work ethic, said Ryan Mcfarlane, one of Camden’s coaches.

Camden trains at the SuperSport United Soccer School at the Benoni Country Club three days a week. He then trains with the SuperSport United FC Academy team twice a week and also has a match day with them. After his academy match he usually plays an FDS (Futsal) match for his soccer school in Benoni.

Futsal is a variant of association football played on a hard court, smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors.

On top of this, Camden does extra work with his dad, Jody Schaper, at home every day. He plays football at his school (St Dunstan’s) and he does an individual training session at his SuperSport United Soccer School once a week.

“There is still a long way to go, but at the moment Camden is working hard to achieve his dream of playing professional football at the highest level.

“He is definitely a name to look out for over the next few years!,” said Macfarlane.
