“Our team consists of members from ages 28 and up,” said Brigitte Thysse, marketing and PR representative for the club.

“We compete in various events and galas around Johannesburg and are always looking for people to join our club.”

Thysse kick-started the women’s team followed by Christine van Rooyen, Nicole de Montille and Roxy Heyns, with the team completing 17.5km in their stipulated time.

André Nel kick-started the men’s team followed by Brian Whistler, Harry Kaspers and Mike Summers, with the team completing 19.8km.

“Masters swimming is all about having fun, while keeping your passion for swimming alive,” said Thysse.

“This was a memorable event for us.
