It’s that time of the year again, the Johnson Crane Hire marathon is back for the 38th time and Benoni is buzzing.
The marathon will take place on January 26 with races starting from 5am until 2pm at Willowmoore Park Stadium, 1 Harper Avenue, Benoni CBD.
The marathon is expected to have approximately 12 000 to 13 000 runners and 15 000 to 17 000 spectators.
The Johnson Crane Marathon has been “running” since the ’80s and was originally formed to promote road running, as the Benoni Harriers AC were originally a specialised track and field club.

The event has grown from being a club hosting event, to the community (Benoni and Boksburg) getting involved and making it one of the East Rand’s most iconic days on the calendar.
Entries are open until totals have been reached.
