Sports excitement at St Dunstan’s College over the Easter weekend
A sporting party was had over the Easter weekend.
St Dunstan’s College first team rugby captain Thando Ngeclwane bursts forward with the ball in hand during his team’s 19-14 win over the St Benedict’s College second XV on April 20.
The sixth annual St Dunstan’s College Easter Sports Festival took place over the Easter long weekend on the days of April 18, 20 and 22.
Twenty-five high schools from around South Africa and even Zimbabwe took part in the multi-sport event which encompassed girls’ and boys’ hockey, netball and rugby while various preparatory schools also participated in the event.
Local schools represented were the hosts St Dunstan’s College, Benoni High School, Hoërskool Hans Moore, Unity Secondary School (Daveyton), Petit High School, Laerskool Rynfield and Rynfield Primary School.

The head honcho of Caxton Radio, the online community radio streaming service which can be accessed and streamed from 10 Caxton East Rand title websites, including www.benonicitytimes.co.za, Paul Rotherham was in attendance at the St Dunstan’s College Easter Sports Festival on April 20. Rotherham (left) has a chat with Willem Lombaard of the Valke Rugby Union’s Referee Association about becoming a rugby referee.

Local schools Benoni High School and St Dunstan’s College clashed in a netball fixture on April 18. St Dunstan’s won the local derby match 34-6.
