Action Netball signs Erin Burger to promote IPTs in Benoni and Secunda

A massive provincial Action Netball tournament comes to the Benoni Action Sports Arena next week and you do not want to miss this.

Action Netball has signed South African centre superstar Erin Burger ahead of the country’s upcoming Inter-Provincial Tournaments (IPTs).

With over 100 caps to her name, 32-year-old Erin Burger was the player of choice when it came to signing an ambassador to help promote the upcoming Action Netball Inter-Provincial Tournaments (IPTs).

Action Sports operates in Australia, New Zealand, England, India, Sri Lanka, Canada and South Africa. South Africa’s Action Netball falls under the Action Sports brand, an organised sports entertainment concept that sees in excess of 150 000 players per month fill the courts across netball, soccer, cricket, sandball, volleyball and more.

The first of two IPTs will take place at the Benoni Action Sports Arena from April 19 to 24 with opens and mixed across the men’s, women’s and mixed teams.

Two days later, Secunda Action Sports Arena will play host to the overs and unders (also across the men’s, women’s and mixed teams) until May 1.

Action Sports general manager Ray Lourens said that the upcoming provincials are bound to top the scoreboard, particularly with a number of great brands getting behind the tournament, including Flying Fish.

“We have managed to secure the involvement of some fantastic partners.

“The event has up-scaled not only in terms of sponsorships but also the number of teams that have entered.

“We are expecting 71 teams and over 800 players.

“Coupled with the exceptionally high standard of play, it will no doubt result in our best tournament yet.

“Erin is an exceptional player and one that all netball players aspire to.

“She has always played fair and hard, which is something that we will see a lot of at the indoor netball provincials starting next week.

“Entrance is free so we welcome everyone to come and witness the high-paced, competitive, quality netball that these tournaments produce,” Lourens said.

Erin Burger echoed Lourens’ comments on the high standard of play: “I have played indoor provincials for many years now and will continue to do so for as long as I can.

“I love everything that they have to offer including the intensity, the camaraderie, the wins and losses.

“I am honoured that Action Sports chose to partner with me and I’ll endeavour to promote this beautiful sport as best I know how.”
