Provincial colours for local martial artists

United’s martial artists had some full contact fun.

The Full Contact Martial Arts Association (FCMA) Gauteng Provincial Championships were held on March 2 at the Kempton Park Indoor Sports Centre.

Over 200 contestants participated on the day.

“What an awesome event with a great tally of medals for our athletes,” said chief instructor, shihan Aslam Mohamed.

“The United Martial Arts International (UMAI) Benoni dojo attained results beyond expectations.

“The athletes were well geared and ready for action.

“Now, the team is preparing for the FCMA National Championships to be held on April 5 and 6 where martial artists from all nine provinces will compete for their national colours ahead of the World Championships which will be held in Blackpool, England.

“All of our esteemed athletes received Gauteng provincial colours for full contact martial arts,” said Mohamed.
