Boksburg beaten by Actonville Spurs at Lords

A comprehensive win for the local lads.

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s (ASCC) Premier League XI enjoyed a successful day on home turf on February 24 when they welcomed Boksburg Cricket Club to the Lords Cricket Grounds in Actonville.

The hosts, boosted by the return of Easterns players Imraan Mannack and Clayton August, were ruthless with the ball after putting their guests into bat first.

It was the experienced left-arm seamer August who showed his quality.

The Titans player bagged impressive bowling figures of 4/20 in his allotted 10 overs and along with Mannack and Mekyle Pillay (who bagged a brace of wickets apiece). Actonville bowled out their Boksburg opponents for 132 runs in 42.1 overs.

In their reply with the bat, despite the loss of four wickets for 69 runs, the team knuckled down to bring the win home in 35.2 overs.

Number four batsman Ryno Marais 56 runs not out was the main man with the willow for his team.

They will be buoyed by the win going into their away day clash against Kempton Park at the Barnard Stadium on March 3.
