Winning Sunday for Actonville Spurs

A successful Sunday for Spurs.

It was a fantastic weekend as far as results go for Actonville Spurs Cricket Club (ASCC).

The club enjoyed a hat trick of victories on January 20 with their Premier League, Premier Reserve League and Chairman’s League sides all achieving winning results.

The Premier League outfit met Tembisa at Willowmoore Park’s B-field and, batting first, put together a score of 196/9 in their 50-over innings.

Saahil Khan (35 runs) and Matthew Corin (31 runs) contributed to the total with Amaan Khan chipping in with 24 runs off 29 deliveries towards the back end of the innings.

Club stalwart and Titans player Clayton August (3/10), Hussain Ahmed (4/18) and Imraan Manack (3/8) ripped through Tembisan line-up, bowling them out for 58 runs to ensure a massive 138-run victory.

The team will travel to the Prince Thethe Oval in KwaThema for their next fixture on January 27.

Meanwhile, the club’s youthful Premier Reserve League side took to the field at Lords in Actonville and, batting first, were bowled out for a modest 108 runs.

Mohammed Dhooda top scored with 33 runs.

Dhooda then let his bowling do the talking by taking a five-wicket haul in the Tembisan batting innings, helping to set up a nail-biting seven-run victory for ASCC.

In the Chairman’s League, a superb all-round display by Sufiyan Patel (40 runs not out and 3/1 with the ball) got the team to a seven-wicket victory, chasing down 95 runs against Avion.
