Netball players strut their stuff in the USA

A terrific experience for the girls.

Seventeen Eastern Gauteng Provincial Action Netball players (u-14 and u-15) were recently selected to play in an international indoor netball tournament in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Ella Neave (St Dunstan’s College u-14 captain), Eden Neave (St Dunstan’s College u-14 captain) and Taylor van Zyl (u-14 player from St Dunstan’s College) represented Benoni.

The girls competed against 10 other teams from Texas, Florida, Canada, KwaZulu-Natal and the UK. The u-15 team placed second overall and the u-14 team placed third overall in the Universal Cup Tournament.

All of the girls also received personal training and coaching from Vicki Wilson, a retired international player for Australia who is currently the head coach of the Fiji netball team.

“They played unbelievably well in the gruelling two-day competition,” said Michelle Saville, South African coordinator of the two teams.

“They received compliments on their behaviour, their willingness to help and guide weaker players and the high standard of their play.”
