Proteas vs Zimbabwe T20 International in Benoni rained out, refunds can be claimed

If you ever want to end a drought, schedule a big cricket match at Benoni’s Willowmoore Park.

The much-anticipated third and final T20 international clash of the series between South Africa and Zimbabwe on October 14 was abandoned without a single delivery being bowled.

Torrential rain during the night carried through into Sunday and made any thought of play impossible.

Die-hard fans of the Proteas turned up at the ground on Sunday hoping to catch a glimpse of the national team in action, but were left disappointed.

Another person who was left mightily disappointed was Willowmoore Park’s head groundsman, Brendon Frost, who had been hard at work in the build-up to the match.

Imran Tahir was named as the Man of the Series on the strength of his brilliant five-wicket haul in the opening match of the T20 series.

The Proteas won the series 2-0.

For fans who purchased tickets to the Benoni match, a process for refunds has been implemented by the Eastern Cricket Union.

Fans who bought tickets via credit card online will be refunded automatically.

Fans who bought tickets via an outlet, or at the stadium, must fill in a refund form and email the form with their tickets and a copy of proof of bank account to info@ticketpros.co.za.

The union will then request an EFT refund for those tickets.

Refunds start on October 16 to October 31.

No refunds will be done at the stadium.

The union can collect refund forms, and send/scan and email them.

Download the refund form from www.easternscricket.co.za.
