It was a good week at the office for Benoni-based Football Club Benfica (FCB).
The action kicked-off on August 7 with the FCB u-17 team in a top-of-the-table league match against Luso Africa.
FCB played well and gave their opponents no chance from the first whistle for which they were rewarded with a 3-1 victory.
The u-15A team took on local rivals Benoni Northerns at the Actonville Stadium on August 9.
The game was dominated by FCB and they came away with a 6-0 victory.
Also on Thursday, their u-19 team took on a strong University of the Witwatersrand team in a league cup quarter-final match.
FCB was made to fight hard and came away with a 2-1 win to progress to the semi-finals.
Their senior team took on Sputla Stars in a league cup semi-final showdown on August 11.
Both teams played some excellent football but in the end, FCB held on for a dramatic 1-0 victory which put them into the cup final.
It was business as usual for their u-13 team who beat Bonaero Park 6-0 on August 12.
Their u-15B team also picked up maximum points against Germiston, winning 2-1.
The last game of the weekend saw FCB’s u-19 team in action against a strong Wynberg Tigers team.
It was a strong and physical game with goals galore but FCB managed to win the game 5-2.
