Wyman is making art in his kart

Up-and-coming racing driver Wayland Wyman (16) is shining behind the steering wheel.

The 16-year-old Benoni Small Farms resident is certainly one to watch out for in his kart.

The Kathstan College learner started racing karts at five-years-old and has made tremendous progress from the cadet class (under eight-years-old) right up to the senior class (an open age group class).

The teenager is currently the Zwartkops Club Champion, Gauteng Regional Champion and is lying second in the South African National Championship.

He raced the second round of the 2018 National Championship in Vereeniging recently, where he took top honours by finishing in first position although he faced fierce competition from the likes of Christiano Morgado, a four-time world champion.

There are still two more races left in the national championships. The overall winner receives paid entry to the World Final which will be hosted in Brazil this year.

Wyman will also be racing at the African Open later this year, a race which sees the best race drivers in Africa contending for the African Open title.

The youngster has not managed to win this title, although he is very optimistic this year.
