Actonville Spurs salute season’s stars

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club (ASCC) recently held their junior and senior prize-giving for the 2017/2018 Eastern Cricket Union season.

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s Junior Player of the 2017/2018 Eastern Cricket Union season Abdullah Patel is seen with Nayan Parhboo (junior co-ordinator) and Mohammed Saeed Methar (treasurer).

The club had a successful senior campaign winning both the Saturday Third League and Presidents League.

The club’s award winners are:

• Junior Player of the Season: Abdullah Patel

• Excellence in Cricket awards: Abdullah Patel, Mekyle Pillay, Saahil Khan and Sinenhlanhla Zwane

• Executive Award: Mekyle Pillay

• Chairman’s Award: Clayton August and Michelle Wepener

• Senior Player of the Year: CJ van der Walt

• Third League Best Batsman: Mark Naik

• Third League Best Bowler: Ahmed Delair

• Fourth League Best Batsman: Ebrahim Rawat

• Fourth League Best Bowler: Suhel Hurzuk

• Fifth League Best Batsman: Daniel van der Merwe

• Fifth League Best Bowler: Denzel Paulson

• Presidents League Best Batsman: Jarred Naidoo

• Presidents League Best Bowler: Sufiyan Patel

• Promotion League Best Batsman: Ahamed Mohamed

• Promotion League Best Bowler: Yash Metha

• Premier League Best Batsman: CJ van der Walt

• Premier League Best Bowler: Wilber van Dyk

• Appreciation Award: Nayan Parbhoo.

The club also recently released their new emblem/logo for the 2018/2019 season to celebrate the 40th year of its existence. The swords with the star are taken from a previous club emblem combined with the most recent logo in a clash of old and new.
