Quick chat with the man behind the scenes of the Robor Scaffolding Marathon

Jan is the one who makes the race happen.

Jan Jordaan and the Robor Scaffolding Marathon go together like well … cheese and tomato (like the colours of Benoni Northerns Athletic Club).

Jordaan, the stalwart organiser of the Robor Scaffolding Marathon, had a quick chat with the Benoni City Times:

BCT: How long have you been organising the race?

JJ: Since 2010, so this will be the ninth year.

BCT: What are some of the challenges involved in organising a road race like this?

JJ: The biggest challenge is the small stuff. The big things like ordering Coke and medals are simple.

BCT: What would you like to see more of at this year’s event?

JJ: I honestly just want to see every single runner enjoying the route and the race itself. If the runners are happy then I am happy.

BCT: What can runners expect from the route?

JJ: After marking the route recently I realised that the route is not as flat as I originally thought. The pull from the Ebotse main gate in Sarel Cilliers Street to the end of Joubert Street is going to be a challenge, especially the second lap.

Late entries

Pre-entries closed on April 22.

Late entries will be taken from Benoni Northerns Sports Club on April 28 from 10am to 5pm and on the morning of the race from 4:30am.
