Actonville get long-awaited win

Back to winning ways for Actonville Spurs.

After a recent bad run of form, Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s Eastern Premier League One XI bounced back with a six-wicket win over Bedfordview at Lords Cricket Grounds on March 11.

Batting first, Bedfordview slowly struggled to a score of 128 all out in 45.4 overs.

Bowlers CJ van der Walt (3/21 in 10 overs) and captain Mekyle Pillay (3/43 in 7.4 overs) did the majority of the damage with the ball.

With the willow, Actonville made relatively light work of the chase, getting to Bedfordview’s target in 30 overs.

Van der Walt proved his value with the bat too, scoring an unbeaten 42 runs to guide his side home with six wickets in hand.

“It’s about time we got onto the other end of things,” said Pillay.

“It was a very good win, a bonus point win.”

They will look for another victory when they take on Tembisa at Willowmoore Park’s B-field on March 18.
