Ebotse Links held its annual club championships, the 10th summer club championships at the course, over the weekend of March 3 and 4.
On Saturday, 106 members were welcomed on the tee by newly appointed golf director Dean Kupferman.
“The course conditions were perfect and the course set-up was fair for every player in all divisions to enjoy,” said Kupferman.
“The first day showed that the course set-up was fair as many players enjoyed it and it showed in their scores.”
On day two, Jaco Rall, defending champion and club champion for the last four years in succession, came out firing with six birdies in a row from hole six to hole 11.
He completed the second round with a gross score of 66 to finish on 141 gross (three under par) for the championship.
Unfortunately for Rall, this wasn’t enough to shake off the number one ranked junior golfer in South Africa and number 12 ranked amateur in the country, Jayden Schaper.
The 16-year-old also went low in the second round with a gross score of 67.
Schaper finished on 138 gross (six under par) for the two days to finally claim his first club champs win.
Jordan Burnand, the 36th ranked amateur in South Africa, finished third on 143 gross (one under par).
It was a club championship that will be remembered for the rise of future stars such as Kiera Floyd (13), who soared above the rest to win the women’s club championship title with a gross score of 146.
