Actonville bowled over at home

February 18 was not a good day for batsmen at Lords Cricket Grounds when Actonville Spurs Cricket Club met Brakpan’s United Cricket Club in the first of their Premier League One fixtures.

Batting first, the hosts did not have a great day at the crease.

Their top score of 16 runs by opening batsman Ahmed Sayed Saloojee was indicative of their display as they were wrapped up for a mere 76 runs in 25.4 overs.

It wasn’t easy going for United with the willow either as they saw five wickets fall in their innings, Imraan Manack and Sinenhlanhla Zwane each bagging a brace of wickets.

Opener Branden Grutter’s 41 runs from 36 deliveries were enough to steer the visitor’s to a five-wicket win in the 16th over.

Actonville’s task will get even tougher when they play the always imposing Kempton Park Cricket Club at their Barnard Stadium home ground on February 25.
