Benonian Brogan Shrimpton is an All-American

Former Benoni High School pupil and Benoni Northerns Football Club (BNFC) striker Brogan Shrimpton has been named the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) First Team All-American for the 2017 season in the USA.

An All-America team is a hypothetical American sports team composed of outstanding amateur players.

These players are broadly considered by media and other relevant commentators as the best players in a particular sport, of a specific season, for each team position.

Such athletes at high school and college level are given the honorific title and typically referred to as ‘All-American athletes’ or simply ‘All-Americans’.

They recognise the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

According to the Davenport University website, dupanthers.com, Shrimpton was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Year while leading the Davenport ‘Panthers’ to the GLIAC Tournament Championship in their first season in the league.

He scored 19 goals in his junior campaign, which would tie for third place in Division II.

Shrimpton won three GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week awards this season while playing for the Michigan-based university.

Academically, the Benonian carries a 3.88 grade point average (GPA) in business management (a number representing the average value of the accumulated final grades earned in courses over time).
