Benoni Zalmi respects CSA’s decision to postpone tournament

Following Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) postponement of the T20 Global League, which was set to start on November 3 a joint statement from the Benoni Zalmi franchise and Eastern Cricket Union regarding the cancellation reads:

“Benoni Zalmi and Eastern Cricket respect the decision taken by Cricket South Africa with regards to the tournament being rescheduled to take place in November next year.

“Whilst we are indeed disappointed to an extent considering that the decision has been taken so close to the start of the tournament, we nevertheless accept the difficult position which CSA has found itself in and we are hopeful that this decision will allow them ample time to sort out all the outstanding issues as such.

“Since we find ourselves with just about a month to go on what would have been the scheduled start, planning by Benoni Zalmi was at an advanced stage for our opening game.

“The community at large have been wonderful to us and we would like to reassure them that we will most definitely be involved in the tournament, although with regret not during this season, but they can look forward to something remarkable next year.

“We look forward to November next year and we are confident that the T20 Global League will be an exciting and successful event going forward.”
