Young canoe polo players perform well in KZN

KwaZulu-Natal hosted the annual Schools Canoe Polo competition recently where a young team from Ekurhuleni Kayak Club (ERK) participated.

Although the team members’ ages were 12 to 13 years old they participated in the u-16 division and performed well, considering the age disadvantage.

They ended up finishing fourth out of eight teams.

The players were mostly from Farrarmere Primary School.

Declan Taylor from Benoni races to catch the ball for his team.

An open day will take place on September 30 at ERK at Homestead Dam from 11am to 1pm for youngsters who might be interested in playing the sport which is described “as rugby on water”.

Further open days will take place at the dam on November 4 and December 2 from 11am to 1pm.
