No silverware for BNFC, Bens
The 2017 Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super Cup and Super Reserve Cup took place at Olympia in Bedfordview on September 16.
Old Bens Football Club’s reserve side lost their final against Randburg on penalties.
The match finished 2-2 after extra time.
Benoni Northerns Football Club’s first XI also felt the disappointment of defeat.
The team was outplayed by the league winners Randburg as they went down 1-4.
Despite the defeat, BNFC coach Jannie van den Berg still believes that it was an extremely successful campaign for his young team.
“The fact that we have four senior players and six u-20 players in the Easterns’ squads is rewarding for us,” he said.
Their final league standing could not be confirmed at the time of going to print.
